Original artwork description:

‘Transience’ is a mixed media collage/assemblage presented in a glazed, soft wood box frame. The image is 30cm x 30 cm, with the framed size at 36cm x 36cm. The box depth is 3.5cm.
‘Transience’ combines lightly textured papers, tissue paper, canvas fabric, lightly scraped pale coloured acrylic paint and a printed photograph of footprints across sand dunes. Found objects, which include pressed coastal wild flowers, a collection of small shells and a small glass bottle containing sand, have been arranged across the collaged and painted surface. The art work also includes a printed drawing of a decorative fish and printed text on tissue paper pieces.
‘Transience’ is part of a series of assemblages in response to coastal environments I have visited. The artwork is inspired by observations made from a walk across undulating sand dunes along the Sefton Coast in the North West of the UK. Similarly to other works in this series, Transience intends to capture and raise awareness to the ways in which we interact with the natural world.

Materials used:

textured papers, canvas fabric, acrylic paint, photograph, pressed wild flower, small shells, glass bottle containing sand
