A person can be very strong in body, but weak in spirit. He may be strong in spirit, but weak in body. It can be strong both in spirit and body or be weak both. The weakness or strength of the body is temporary, but the weakness or strength of the spirit goes, weakening or increasing from life to life. The purpose of evolution is to create a perfect physical body - a shell of the spirit - and to achieve a possible degree of spiritual perfection. The evolution of the physical shell consists in its refinement and dilution. Many inhabited worlds are invisible to the physical eye in a state of varying degrees of sparsity. And where the eye feels empty space, there is its own life, inaccessible to the observation of ordinary feelings. The visible world is only an infinitely small part of the invisible worlds. The visible universe is just like a cut, like a plane of infinite worlds of other dimensions. The mystery of matter is as great and deep as the mystery of man, and only on the endless path to Infinity is it revealed and unfolded before the spirit that comprehens it step by step, step by step. Spirit and matter are only the poles of the One Thing: the knowable and the Knowing, the created and the Creative, the changing and the Witness of these changes - one cannot manifest without the other.
