This watercolor was done in very hot weather, slowly and peacefully with the thoughts about the chilly winter morning by the lake Ashinoko in Hakone, Japan.

On that morning there was no bright light or dramatic cloudy sky, but there was that special quietness in the air when you can fly across the continents in your mind or just rest with eyes half-closed.

I wanted to capture the essence of the tranquility in nature and in mind, to inhabit the painting with lots of details so that the overall picture will still be soothing and restful for the eye of the viewer.
