Original artwork description:

‘Tranquil Earth’ is a mixed media collage/assemblage presented in a glazed, soft wood box frame. The image is 30cm x 30 cm, with the framed size at 36cm x 36cm. The box depth is 3.5cm.
‘Tranquil Earth’ combines subtle textured papers, tissue paper, canvas fabric and pale acrylic colour. The background image also includes a transfer print of a photograph, and collected wild flowers, small pieces of tree bark, sand and the words ‘whispers the breeze’ have been arranged across the collaged surface.

‘Tranquil Earth’ is part of a series of assemblages in response to coastal environments I have visited. The artwork, ‘Tranquil Earth’ is inspired by observations made from a walk along a coastal path. Similarly to other works in this series the work intends to capture and raise awareness of what surrounds us and to the ways in which we interact with the natural world.
