60cm x 45cm x 4cm Original abstract painting on canvas

This work was inspired by Futurism and Vorticism, and 20th century geometric abstraction more generally. The painting is built up in layers of intersecting line and colour, creating a sense of movement and dynamism within the image and evoking urban architecture or shards of light.

I tend to work without a clear idea of how the finished work will look, instead working intuitively. For me painting becomes a series of considered moves which build and elaborate upon one another, a process of addition and subtraction that takes on a momentum of its own.
