Summer came late to the high country this year. Flowers speckled the meadow, attracting bees, birds, and butterflies, as we hiked our way toward the lake nestled in the mountain's shadow. Fishing was on our minds, the mountain breeze tousling our hair, June sunshine kissing our skin, as we anticipated our day on the lake. Night promised cool shadows, a cozy campfire, and a firmament of stars twinkling above the pines.
