One of my painting as my pseudo : Romain Héjé, when i walk through the garden to the old barn where i paint on sundays when everyone left.
I choose to paint : TheTragic characters series as a break through my abstract paintings the need to face up to reality, the state of things.
It is the painted reproduction of a newspaper photography. The subject is a vietnamese pharmacist woman working near the cambodian border where the malaria is still active in spite of treatment. She seems to be helpless and just considering the topography as her only acknowledgement . A tragic character.
I used a black and white news-photography as the model for the painting. It was relevent to me, that at first i had to paint this very photo of poor quality on poor paper. This poorness was actually this reality i am after with painting.
The painting has a glossy varnish.
