The complete title of this artwork is (And the Tower Fell... Men are Not GOD!)
This small 14.5 x 18 Christian abstract painting is a part of my series of artworks created on discarded pieces of coarse sailboat Sail canvas. It concerns The Tower of Babel . A story in the Bible that appears in Genesis 11:1-9. It tells of the construction of a tower and city in the land of Shinar (Babylonia) after the Deluge. The Babylonians wanted to build the tower to make a name for themselves and avoid another flood. However, God was concerned that humans were blaspheming and disrupted their work by confusing their language so they could no longer understand each other. As a result, the city was never completed and the people were scattered across the earth. This painting has a very heavy message for me. The concept for this painting came to me as I watching the news last week and saw the confusion in the world ... in ALL aspects of our existence. There are so many false prophets in the world today! So many men and women follow them blindly worshiping the agendas that they believe to be right or true. Most of the false prophets are really "Profits" of worldly things and power for themselves. All these men are not God...and their agendas may be right.. but ungodly men care not about the agenda... just self profit. All of them! The saddest part is the righteous GOOD people are not speaking out or stepping up to the plate. We have become cattle and sheep. ,<><>, I am so thankful God is in charge of this mess we have made of our earthly society.
A NOTE about this artwork. As you can see these sections of sailboat sail canvas are very rustic. They are unraveled on the edges and some slightly wrinkled... like a piece of a sail found on the beach. They are also seldom perfectly square due to the characteristic of its flexibility and the ability to stretch with the wind. For me this just adds to the essence that this is indeed a piece of sailboat sail canvas... perhaps from a lost ship at sea! Let your imagination soar with this one! I feel it would look great hung on a wall with tacks, or matching colored push pins. Some of my clients hot glue a dowel rod to the top and hang it by decorative rope, ribbon, or string. YOU can even participate in the creation of this artwork by unraveling it more on the edges if you want to make it look more distressed. These artworks are for the special GREEN-minded people who are like me in that they hate to discard things that can be repurposed. Especially into works of Art.
