Watercolor painting “Towards the Church. Ioninsky Monastery in Kiev” was painted from life during my cycling plein air travel across Ukraine in the summer of 2020.
The Ioninsky Monastery is located in a beautiful place in Kiev, in the botanical garden. And the architecture of the temples itself is very picturesque, so you want to paint all that beauty.
The sun was at its zenith and the light falls on the temples and people walking from above and this creates a special atmosphere. When I was drawing near the temple there were not so many people, but I wanted to convey the feeling that the Divine service begins and all people are going to the temple, I showed my imagination and drew people walking. Thanks to this, the static silhouettes of architecture acquired a sense of dynamics.
The work was painting by professional Italian watercolors Maimeri Blu on 100% cotton watercolor paper 300 g/m2, which guarantees the durability of the preservation of the work under proper storage conditions, decorated under glass.
Also on my page you can see other original paintings painted from life during my plein air travels in Italy, India, Georgia, Ukraine, Russia, Turkey. And also see my paintings with flowers and still lifes painted from nature.
All the funds raised from the sale of my paintings are used to make my dream of a mobile workshop based on a minibus come true. Now I travel the world on a bicycle, it is very exciting, but for greater productivity I need a minibus in which I will live, travel and paint.
