The external, material world provides subsistence, but no one thing can provide lasting satisfaction. A holiday may provide an escape from our ordinary lives, but what we’re truly chasing is the chance to escape ourselves and not even the most distant exotic shores can provide that and besides eventually we have no choice, but to return home to ourselves. The greatest and simplest act is to begin stepping away from the self, by travelling inwards:
