This is hand-printed by myself from a metal printing plate in an etching press - one of those medieval style hand-cranked roller presses which exerts thousands of pounds of pressure to force the ink from the plate into the paper. The impression of the plate can clearly seen "stamped" into the paper. Printed using traditional linseed oil and lamp-black ink on very heavy 300gsm Hahnemuhle etching paper, one of the finest papers in the World. The printing plate was laboriously made by burning or etching a clean metal plate with the design using acid.
