Original artwork description:

An original oil painting on thick edged gallery wrapped canvas by Adelaide artist Scott Maxwell

This painting evolved from many layers of colour, each worked together again and again working into the wet surface and on top of the dried paint of the previous layers. While I'm working with the materials I'm distracted from the whole canvas, I want the composition to be a semi fluid process. To capture a warm glowing moment, so fleeting it is barely memorable in a dream is only possible through the subconscious mind. Maybe the painting represents a space I have been to, or go to, maybe It's a place I'm searching for.

The painting glows in reds, oranges and yellows, the purples add cool colour contrasts. I have used different types of painting knives and brush styles to create variations in texture. It was a struggle to find this paintings 'moment', a long and difficult process but they are often the most satisfying.

The title is taken from a poem by the great poet Algernon Swinburne.

This painting is ready to hang unframed.
