Original artwork description:

This was painted in egg tempera and oil, catching Tommy by firelight when he had had a bath and was wrapped in a towel. At nine, he was no longer a little boy, but slowly moving out of childhood into another period of his life.

He looks pensive, and the painting seems very traditional, of any time. I wondered if he was thinking about the future - maybe he was.

Materials used:

egg tempera and oil paint
