Time Keeps On Ticking…
COVID isolation was the inspiration for my Time Keeps On Ticking SERIES. Like millions of others, I was quarantined at home for over a year. The pace of my life and of time seemed to slow down to a crawl. After a few months, I become aware of the gradual daily transition of light and shadow between my garden/patio and my living room. Late in the year, I stood in approxmately the same spot and photographed that slow handoff of light and shadow over the course of a day. Then I chose five images that best documented the range of change and rendered those images into the Time Keeps On Ticking SERIES of oil paintings.

I’m inspired by compelling visual stories, intense contrast, brilliant colors, and the hand-of-man dancing with nature. Transitional times of day (sunset, sunrise) and dramatic skies especially bring me joy. I’m constantly on the lookout for an inspiring combination of location and light.

My Artistic Inspiration…
I’m a cityscape oil painter passionate about bright colors and deep contrast. My inspirations are the fluid light, dramatic vistas, quiet neighborhoods and stark landscapes of California and the Southwest. I paint with a vibrant palette and expressive brushstrokes to share my vision of an essence of the urban experience. I hope that the viewer will be inspired to see the world around them in a new, beautiful light.

This work is rendered in many layers of oil paint on gallery-wrapped canvas.
