Original artwork description:

Mechanical drawing, ink, liner pen, ballpoint pen on paper

59,4 x 85 cm

23.3 x 33.4 in

This drawing is part of a series of mechanical drawings partially executed by a modified cutting plotter, adapted by the artist for this type of drawing.

The artist creates a digital collage that is then passed through several digital processes in order to obtain an image comprised of vectorial lines on multiple layers. Each layer is then drawn by the plotter, line by line. The result is an image comprised of scribbled lines. After the image is complete, the artists intervenes by hand to enhance or modify certain areas of the drawing. While the preparation of the digital file may take about two hours, the plotter draws each layer in about 3-4 hours depending on the size and complexity of the image. An A3 drawing comprised of three layers is completed in approximately 6 hours.

While the machine follows the same path as precisely as possible, function of the used pen, ink, the size of the image and the hand interventions, each iteration of the same image is different.

Please note that the drawing is shipped rolled on a tube, safely wrapped in paper and bubble wrap, in a cardboard box.

The artwork is signed on the front and back and a certificate of authenticity is provided.

Dan's works usually depict an alternative perception of the reality that is possible by letting go of the standardised perception of the surroundings.
Once time, space, social and cultural standards become other than boundaries the possibilities are limitless and the creative thought can release us into a freedom which we didn't have the courage to hope for.
He applies the same concept to his process trying to use the result of accidental drops or free gesture finger or brush intervention as a will of a predefined chaos that is used as a pretext for new layers and details of the composition.
The images he uses for reference are collages of various out of context picture cuts found in archives, social media or even screenshots from cinema or television productions.
