Portrait of Tigger, a lovely old gentleman of a dog who belonged to friends of mine in Pembrokeshire. On this day I was visiting and we all went for a walk on a headland near Fishguard. It was a gorgeous day and Tigger was smiling.
This is an 8-colour reduction linoprint.
Reduction linoprinting begins with carving a design into a new lino block and printing the first colour on each sheet of paper in the edition. I then carve more of the same block away and proceed to print the second colour. The process of carving and printing continues for each additional colour until the final layer is printed. Typically, one prints from lightest to darkest colour. After completion of the print, another edition can never be made because the block has been carved away during the creation process. As it is handprinted there can be minor variations in colour and density between prints.
Handburnished on Fabriano 200gsm paper using Schmincke inks.
