This oil painting was made of tiger lilies which appeared again this summer - I'd forgotten that I planted them last year. They were partly hidden by other foliage in pots on my roof terrace - my little 'urban jungle' in East Dulwich, London. There's a photo of it amongst the other details of the painting here.
I like to use oils in a translucent way to give the effect of watercolour, thinning them and using many layers, and making the most of the drips which run down the canvas to form stems and leaves.
This oil painting is on watercolour paper.
