This was meant to be a floral painting, the background was prepared by loosely splashing water and paint on the paper and sprinkling salt over it for some texture. As I turned the paper round I could see an elephant’s trunk. So, dug out some photos I had taken at Twycross zoo and formulated a plan. A somewhat vibrant mother and baby elephant appeared as I dropped some stronger colours in a considered manner.
This painting reminds me of Holi, the Indian festival of colour where you sprinkle pink gulal which symbolises love.
