Original artwork description:

The Nordkette, or “North Chain” of the Karwendel alps dominates the skyline above the city of Innsbruck, Tyrol, Austria. In winter, the Nordkette is a skier’s paradise but in summer, when the snow has receded into only those rock crevices that barely ever see sunlight, thunderclouds can often be seen, swirling and expanding over the peaks. It was this atmosphere that I wanted to capture as I set up my painting equipment on my daughter’s balcony, strategically positioned across the valley from this scene.

“Thunderclouds forming over the Nordkette” was painted on 300g grain rough Arches watercolour paper using Windsor and Newton paints. The "panoramic" format compliments the subject as well as being a good shape of painting for hanging with other paintings or above a long pieces of furniture such as a couch or sideboard. The painting comes in a warm white mount to fit a standard frame size of 60cm x 40cm and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. If you like this painting, you might want to take a look at the rest of my series of Tyrol paintings too.
