Original artwork description:

Through the Veil is a large contemporary oil painting of a river bank in summer with wildflowers and white egrets. It is 40x40x1.5 inches. This painting was inspired by a recent river walk along the river Ouse near Newick. It shows the river and fields and trees beyond and wild flowers along the edge. Two white egrets are on the right and veils of transparent colours give the painting different facets like a diamond or stained-glass window. The painting tries to reflects the fast-changing countryside and flora and fauna you get in England in the summer along with all the scents, insect buzzing, bird singing and other lovely sensations that were present. The white egrets were there on the day though not posed quite as aesthetically. They are never the less ethereal and magical looking birds and always a joy to see. As always, I have tried to capture the emotion and feeling of the landscape rather than the botanical accuracies. It is painted on white wide edged canvas, no frame needed, ready to hang and comes with certificate of authenticity. Post code BN8 5BX if you want to visit and walk along the river.

Materials used:
