The painting invites immersion in nature’s elegance bathing in autumn colours. The emphasis lies in the tensions between the warm and cool colours in the forest landscape, its different textures – trees, riverbank, water – as well as the in the relationship between the foreground and the background. For a painter these phenomena can only become visible by means of close observation, and looking ‘beyond’ the elements in nature, a process embodied in the paintings in which every brushstroke forms a meaningful entity in the emerging whole.
