Original artwork description:

Clement Mohale is a contemporary mixed-media artist. His work is bold, vibrant and emotive, and is inspired by challenges and experiences he witnesses on daily basis. The work he creates portrays the diverse culture of Africa and it’s beautiful people. His work explores childhood memories, identity and inner struggle and it’s also investigates the series of emotions we experience and also how the human condition tend to shape and influence the being in us. He paints calm and devotional pictures full of gentle pity.
Mohale developed a vivid genre style, exploiting colour, in particular, strong light, in  flat and impasto oil and acrylic paints. He renders his work with subtle frenzied drama of brushstrokes  which creates a rythmical movement. His subject-matter is predominately painted in monochrome, in series of blues  and each subject or portrait is caught in fleeting gesture or expression. His subject include disadvantaged domestic genre figures,  and children, but  in essence he does not limit himself to one medium, concept and or idea. Mohale places his subjects against brilliant and pure colours juxtaposed or separated by contours. Through his deep psychological depth portraits Clement wants the blend of light, colour and movement in his work to overwhelm the viewers by direct emotional appeal with subsequent gradations of essential emotions evoked.

Materials used:

I employed acrylic paints on traditional white and acid free stretched canvas to create the artwork.
