Grace and thorniness are surprisingly combined in this beautiful plant. I tried to convey this dual nature of the thistle in my painting.
The inspiration for this work was Japanese painting, in which flowers and plants play a very significant role.
The model for the artwork was a beautiful thistle bush, which I stumbled upon one summer day by a gurgling stream. Thanks to the watercolor technique, the work turned out to be so lively and picturesque.
