Lately, I've been contemplating how I can influence the viewer through art and whether I can create environments that invite them to step inside. When conceptualizing the surrealist painting "These Chairs for You," my primary focus was on leaving these chairs empty for the viewers. Imagine having the ability to rupture space and enter the artist's created scene. This sounds surreal because this opportunity can only be realized through the power of imagination.
In the painting, you see a girl spending her evening in the corner of a sofa. I intentionally used green hues to unfold the evening motif, employing dark shades to add an emotional spectrum effectively conveyed by the color green. The artwork also features an open door with a chair positioned in it, leading to a brightly lit room in shades of pink. The chair beckons the viewer to explore another perspective, perhaps the most unconventional one, offering a fresh point of view.
This painting is about my desire to invite the viewer to rupture space and enter the artwork, to experience the evening narrative with the main character.
-Acrylic painting on paper
