Very limited edition of 6 prints on archival Canson paper
Hand-drawn, hand-carved, hand-pulled

THE STORY

Part of my 'bedroom' series which celebrates memories spent in the different bedrooms that I have lived in, this linocut is a remembrance of the special space where I spent a very crucial year of my life in. It is from when I was a 19-year-old student in university in London, when I spent a lot of hours in this bedroom, giving me time for quiet reading and reflection. I suddenly 'grew up' during that one year, learning more about happiness and to love my life as an individual, before anything else.

THE PROCESS

Hand-drawn, hand-carved, and hand-pulled, this work has been created with a single block of linoleum, using the reduction process (one colour after the other printed from the same block with a stage of further carving in between). The sky gradation has been done using the stencil technique, and I have also experimented with a layer of sheer ink for the stream of light!

ink
