Venice is not just a city, just another tourist place. It is like a mermaid – full of magic and charm and the mystery of water. My profound love and admiration for the "City of Mirages" makes me paint Venice time and again. This painting of the Lion of Venice features an ancient bronze winged lion sculpture in the Piazza San Marco of Venice, which came to symbolize the city – as well as one of its patron saints, St Mark – after its arrival there in the 12th century.
