Have you ever dreamed that you were lying by the sea, the waves softly rolling in on a perfect morning. The sky filled with rose and gold tones, silvery golden sand and clear mineral water cresting over the rocks. There are days when the light is so perfect it almost seems unreal. This is an image made on the Isle of Harris, a small island off the far north west coast of Scotland. This is a quiet place, even in Summer there are few people here.

My work is all about the emotional connection we have to a place and a moment in time when we felt such intense pleasure looking at a landscape. I am driven to capture the essence of a place with my camera, working mainly with the colours and shapes I see. I travel to remote islands, to places steeped in history, unspoilt beaches and wild rocky coastlines where I love to work in quiet solitude.
