Original artwork description:

This work was inspired by a whisper that was relaying some important secret. The hand raised, so no one could see the act of betrayal, the hair standing on end, to signify the seriousness, one eye closed, the other eye open, mouth wide in full flow. This I witnessed and so became part of series of my “ Fossilized Wood “ collection. I hope the viewer would feel the presence of this work, the subject, the carving and the wonderful medium that is fossilized wood. This is a rare and beautiful material that is found in very few places and it’s colour is natural black, as it has spent thousands of years buried in peat of the Fens, where I was lucky enough to come across it and so I lived amongst it, gathering it from the fields and creating a body of work over many years, that I return to using what wood I have left. To me Bog Oak has a special quality and beauty that I try to reveal.
