The Weather We’ve Been Waiting For LXIV (64) The First Sunny Sunday This Spring is part of his series, The Weather We’ve Been Waiting For. This collection is a series of paintings inspired by the ever-changing and sometimes dramatic weather of the North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains that he calls home. His home and studio surroundings are a constant source of information for his paintings. He spends lots of time outside when it is comfortable to do so; he spends lots of time looking outdoors when it is not. His outdoor surroundings excite and inspire his work.
The weather is a common topic around here, and he loves it in all seasons. He enjoys looking at the forecast and watching for changes in the weather, hence the name of the Series.
Sunny, windy, dry, overcast, snowy, rainy, and foggy all make each forecast different - sometimes very dramatically different - than the one before. He still gets excited when snow falls - just like he did when he was a child. He loves sunshine, but he also enjoys the cleansing aspect of a good rain day.
Each new forecast that brings different weather is welcome and anticipated. That is why he named this Series “The Weather We’ve Been Waiting For” because he waits and welcomes the change.
