This painting is from a photograph that I took one late winter snowy day just as the storm was moving away and the sun was returning. That intense blue sky, the dramatic windswept clouds and the deep shadows on the snow caught my attention first, and then the warm shades in the bushes and distant trees. I realized that the tracks in the snow, as well as the fence posts, created a pattern I could use to draw the viewer’s eye back to the central tree. I love the contrast between the cool blue and lavender, and the warm browns, burnt sienna and magenta shades in the vegetation. I framed this in silver because I thought it enhanced the color scheme. Painted on oil-primed (gessoed) linen in oil, signed on the back (my insignia on the front), this work is varnished in Gamvar satin to protect it for generations. The paints have a 500-year color-fast rating. I ship with a Certificate of Authenticity.
