Derry City is the only intact completely walled city in Ireland and one of the finest examples of Walled Cities in Europe. The walls are incredibly thick and are just a mile in length, that’s 1.5 km. The stones are a greyish/bluish green and in excellent condition. This section of the walls is close to Butcher’s Gate, as seen from Magazine Street.
