A waiting room in a Parisian railway station. It felt timeless, as though I had stepped into the nineteenth century. Benches are empty, inviting us to sit, and from outside the noises of the station float upwards. The room zings with possibility, a few steps to the platforms and thence to Amsterdam or Marseille, Nice or London. The transient, haunted world of the railway station. Light filters through the windows, casting almost church-like hues. I have used some collage to add texture and atmosphere. The canvas is 0.5 inches deep and can therefore hang without a frame if wished. A great souvenir of France, a wonderful gift
