I created this painting for a specific contest, theme "roots". I immediately thought of the past, our past, where we come from. Then I thought of painting a group of people who lived in previous eras, in front of their homes. Simple people, with one or two clothes to choose from, the good one from Sunday and the worn out one from every day, people who in their life worked the fields because it was their only means of sustenance, or who lent their labor in a factory. They were simple people, they didn't have much, and for every little thing, they fully savored the taste and the happiness of receiving it. I wanted to recreate the past more, veiling the painting, with the sepia color.
