Ink pen andacrylic colour on thai handmade mulberry paper(kada sa) , deckled edge, 9.5 x 13.25 in., 24 x 34 cm
Expressive figure work. This project is inspired from one of my sketches based on a picture somewhere. This is a sketch, loose, with abstract overlays. It works so well on this parchment type paper.
I occasionally like to return to this traditional mulberry paper handmade in Thailand. It’s a thick parchment type paper, strong yet pliable. I have the paper made to this size to get the deckled edges which adds to the textural effect. The close up picture is to get a feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting. Then there’s me with the artwork for perspective.
Slowly I am reaching into my trunk full of sketches, organizing them, uploading, and reworking them into paintings, such as this one.

Please note you can purchase up to 3 small paintings of this size in the 1 order to be included in 1 sipping fee.
About framing.
When considering framing bear in mind to not cover up the deckled edges. This is one of the specialties of the painting, one of its charms. It is best displayed framed with a cut mat board around the painting so as not to cover the edges, thereby putting some space between the art and the glass and bringing depth to the framed art. It can also be framed simply with backing board and pressed with glass over the front without causing damage.
