The plain of the river Taw on the north side of Dartmoor National Park is truly majestic. A few milesof easy walking from the village of Belstone you can imagine yourself to be in the "valley of the horses", expecting to see stone age hunters chasing after after hardy ice age horses any moment... Well, I do anyway :)
