Flowers are a constant thrill for me, and present endless opportunity for a vibrant, colourful reaction to their beauty and detail. I paint from my imagination, but continue to study real life for inspiration in the field (literally!)
I am told that people feel very happy when they have a piece of my work on their wall and I certainly feel very happy while I paint!
Acrylics give me the opportunity to paint with very thick paint and also thin washes to build up the colour and depth of a piece. I love their speedy drying time as I do like to immerse myself in a painting and become impatient to work into it!
I find that varnishing my pictures retains the vibrancy of the medium so the colours really pop out of the canvas.
