Original artwork description:

During lock-down every night ended with a view out across the gardens of the houses behind. The night sky and the lights in the houses changed, but the black and brown shape of the tree remained consistent.

The piece was inspired by a fellow artists challenge of creating something after looking at "The Red Tree Avond" by Piet Mondrian. Mondrian is someone we often associate with crisp clear graphic lines. I usually work in bright colours so thought I'd mute the palette to ring the changes.

I've created a collection "Covid Creativity - Art from Lock-down". The Art Challenge between a group of artists who got to know each other in and around Hereford. Setting challenges for each other, either based on an artistic style, medium or subject. Meeting virtually to share our results.

Image 15 x 22cm (8 x 10") is completed in pastels on a buff grey-blue flecked pastel paper. The drawing is in a cream mount in an umber wood frame 35 x 43 x 1 cm (14 x 17").
