Original artwork description:

I passed this tree every day on my way from Llandre to Aberystwyth. It occupied a commanding position over the valley and completely dominated the landscape. The mistletoe which had grown up around it was slowly strangling the branches. The painting is composed of flat planes of colour, like a mosaic, each with a definite contour. When the tones and colours of each piece cohere, then the illusion of depth is attained.

Materials used:

Oil paint on linen canvas, egg & oil emulsion primer, damar varnish
