An oversized minimalist art photography print in neutral tones from a deserted beach on the far side of the Isle of Lewis.

If you travel to the wild north of Scotland on the west coast, then take the ferry to the Isle of Harris and Lewis, then continue north, you gradually lose all sense of the modern world. Your view of the world changes to peaceful scenes of a rough, untouched landscape surrounded by water. Your heart lifts the farther you go until you each the far side of the Isle of Lewis. Here, the small beaches are surrounded by ragged cliffs that look out at the Atlantic Ocean with nothing to see for thousands of miles. Only a very few people live in small cottages dotting the hills in this lost paradise. When the mist rolls in, even the waves soften and are quiet. The colours of landscape and sea dissolve into one another like frosted glass and soft silver sand is caressed by teal water as clear as glass as daw drifts down in muted tones only hinting at pink.

My work is all about the emotional connection we have to a place and the moment in our memory when we felt such intense pleasure looking at a landscape. I am driven to capture the essence of a place with my camera, working mainly with the colours and shapes I see when I half close my eyes. I travel to remote islands, to places steeped in history, unspoilt beaches and wild rocky coastlines where I love to work in quiet solitude.

This listing is for the paper version of the print, this would be ideal for dry mounting or float framing. It is an great size for a room with a high ceiling yet it does not over power as it is in soft neutral tones.
