"The Thinker" (2017) - Oil On Canvas - Ryan Louder _x000D_ _x000D_ Ryans portrait of his assistant. This took many attempts and many canvases thrown away. "I wanted to capture his personality but every attempt seemed to lack depth until this painting" Ryan captures his assistants "eternal good nature" and deep philosophical thinking but represents his youth by making his body seem two dimensional. "He is only 25 years old in this and when I think back when I was 25 I thought I knew a lot more than I did. The two dimensional aspect of his body represents that he will grow more and more with age into a wholistic three dimensional person". I’m a London-based artist, and my work often reflects vivid and surreal imagery inspired by my unique experience with REM intrusion—a condition where dream-like visions can appear while I’m awake. My paintings explore the boundary between waking reality and the dream world, using layered compositions to create a sense of depth and movement. I paint with high-quality materials and put a lot of thought into texture and detail. My process is a mix of intuitive brushwork and deliberate layering, aiming to create pieces that are rich in emotion and invite you to see something new each time you look at them.
