This is another monumental and intricate piece in which great detail was given to each and every color and shape to reflect the sun and its expansive reach all across the galaxy. There are hundreds of shapes in this piece, and painstaking detail and experimental techniques were used in its composition and execution. For example, I experimented with different types of acrylic and composite paints to generate different types of finishes (i.e., high gloss, medium gloss, matte, etc.) Certain types of paints were used to highlight the sun and its intensity and expansive reach. For example, the deep red paint used in the center of the painting for the half circle reflects the higher level of heat and intensity nears its core, and the yellow and orange paints used throughout the canvas represent varying levels of this heat, intensity and illumination as the sunrays spread throughout the universe.
