This painting depicts a wrought iron spiral staircase disappearing up into the trees in the Palm House at Kew. It was painted using gesso, watercolour and water soluble pencils and inks. Parts of the image were scratched into and sanded away to evoke a ‘distressed’ & textural effect, leaving a rough, peeling surface to work into.
The painting was selected for The Royal Institute of painters in Watercolour 209th exhibition in May 2021 and exhibited at the Mall Galleries London and is professionally mounted, glazed and framed in a simple white wood grain frame.
