Original artwork description:

Have you ever experienced while on the coast the ever shifting light and weather fronts; the veils of rain falling across the sea and land while through them you can perceive the promise of a brighter day?

The West of Ireland is great for this and a rich source to tap into to start a painting.

The energy, strength and constant flux of the elements are catalyst.

With this painting, I set out to express that might with colour, contrasts of light and dark, marks and textures.

That elemental force is at the same time filtered through a vivid memory and abiding love of the oil sketches and cloud studies of Constable I once was fortunate enough to see.

In this piece, the eye is pulled through the swirling vortex of bruised heavy clouds and veils of rain through to the horizon where the light casts a golden hue upon the land.

The painting is mainly arranged around cool blue-green colours, but the warm cast of rose light on the distant billowing clouds is the main focus. It suggests hope.

This is an oil on deep edged canvas ready to hang.

All paintings are varnished to add a protective coat against dust.

Only the highest quality archival fine art grade oil paints are used on a surface gessoed and prepared by myself.

All work is carefully packed using protective compressed foam boards 2 cm deep and then wrapped in cardboard so that your painting arrives safely.

I exhibit internationally and my art is featured in collections worldwide.
