This November has seen the rain fall incessantly, day after day after day. I think we had only had the odd day of sunshine all month.
This painting is of one of those days. The rain had been so heavy that it appears to have darkened the colours of the mulched leaves on the floor of these woods.
The copper is darker than usual under the prolonged weighty effects of rainfall.
This is contrasts to the lightness of colours of the trees and plants growing in the back ground which look fluffy as if they have just dried off after the wet unrelenting showers of rain.
I liked the contrast between the heavy, darkened colours in the foreground and the light colours and form in the sun lit distance, as almost as if the colours in the background are celebrating the newly emerged sun light.
