Here is another painting in my most popular ‘Bosch’ series, depicting characters from some of Bosch’s great works.
Hieronymus Bosch is known for his paintings of amazing and wonderful pictures. He was one of the first European painters to paint about everyday life. He let the horrors he saw each day spill out onto his painting, which was creative and different for his period.
I am enamoured by his work and can spend hours examining his work. As his work has so much going on, I decided to extract several small pieces and characters from his paintings and make them my own.
This piece has been based on an original drawing that has been attributed to Hieronymus Bosch as the original artist. However, although no original with a similar design by Bosch has survived, it was reasonable to assume that either a painting or drawing by him served as a prototype for the eventual engraving. The elephant facing left is surrounded by armed figures and demonic creatures attempting to battle the occupants of the castle on its back. I have not painted an exact version of the drawing as the number of figures within the picture is endless. I have brought it to life with my vibrant colours.
Through the relationship between the various elements within the work hints of narrative and representation may emerge.
Perfect for adding a statement piece to living spaces that may create a talking point with visitors.
Executed in good quality oil paints, painted on all sides, and finished with a glaze of gloss varnish to protect against sunlight and dust. It just needs a nail or wall fitting to sit flush against the wall.
You will receive a signed certificate of authenticity.
The painting is 24 x 32 inches, with a depth of 0.6 inches and is on stretched canvas.
All art is professionally packaged to ensure it arrives in perfect condition. My works have been shipped worldwide.
About me:
I am a painter, mostly in oils although I have begun to switch between oils and acrylics.
I love to paint, love colours, shapes’, and textures. I love the idea that a different story can be read into each of my paintings and each viewer may interpret a story different to another.
