Shot as part of a series when I first came back to the UK after 20 years abroad, and rediscovered the beauty of the British landscape.
The Seven Sisters are a series of chalk sea cliffs on the English Channel coast, and are a stretch of the sea-eroded section of the South Downs range of hills, in the county of East Sussex, in south-east England. The Seven Sisters cliffs run between the mouth of the River Cuckmere near Seaford, and the chalk headland of Beachy Head outside Eastbourne. Birling Gap is the name of the small hamlet from where I shot this image. A small village getting smaller as cottages fall into the sea, victims of coastal erosion. This cliff view has also changed in the years since I took this shot, for the same reason.
