A neutral tone muted artwork in soft teal and turquoise.
From the remote islands of Orkney, the myth of the Selkie is still passed through families. The Selkie was a Seal Woman with a mermaid tail who is washed up on the shore. She falls in love with a local man, they marry and together they have a child. But she cannot stay, she is called back to the sea and eventually she asks her daughter to bring her the Selkie skin and tail and she swims back into the ocean.
This long exposure photo of the beautiful patterns of the water on the beach at Skaill Bay on Orkney reminded me of the legend of the Selkie, the veil of white looking like a sea created wedding veil.
Printed here in my studio on Skye on a beautiful fine art paper that is museum quality and will not fade. An exceptional print that will become a family heirloom.
The image is printed with a 2 inch white border in white for a total size of 56 x 36 inches. The signature, title and edition number is under the image in the white border unless otherwise requested.
