‘The sandwich of divine Ascension‘ is a gently satirical piece. A satire buttered lightly with sympathy and smeared with a calorific dollop of tragedy.
A man finds himself on a lunchbreak; a moment of restbite, an island of something pleasant, sandwiched in a days work.
A factory in the background stands dominantly isolated. A metaphor perhaps, a representation of the world as an industrial process, where many a life is dominated by endlessly producing for others.
