Drawing in colored pencils and ink on cardboard inspired by the legend of the Child of Lama dei Peligni, a town in Abruzzo in the province of Chieti, which tells of the custom introduced by the Franciscans since the 15th century of donating sacred images of the Child Jesus blessed in Bethlehem or Jerusalem. A particular Sacred Effigy of the Child, whose exceptional beauty was considered a sure divine sign, was brought to Lama from Palestine by Fra 'Pietro (Lama 1702 - Pacentro 1760), lay brother of the Observant Minors. As soon as it arrived in the village, the church bells began to ring by themselves and the animals knelt as it passed. Numerous testimonies attributed to the statue thaumaturgic powers as it was responsible for sudden and mysterious healings from serious diseases and miraculous events.
