A Limited Edition colour linocut of the Royal Pavilion, Brighton, East Sussex, with the lily pond in the foreground.
This is a large linocut made using several carved blocks of lino, one for each colour. The ink is transferred to the paper by rubbing the back with a baren and a wooden spoon. (Takes a while!).
The actual print is 37cm high and 28cm wide (roughly A3 - so pretty big).
This is a variable edition of 60, and, as always with linocuts, each print will vary since they are produced by hand.
In this edition, there is quite a variation in colour - so each print is particularly unique!
The first image is from a scan of the actual print for sale, Number 6, as is the close-up. Other photos show how the print looks in its mount and how it would look in a frame - hopefully giving you an idea of scale!
Each print is numbered, titled and signed on the front by me, the artist.
The linocut is printed on acid-free 130 gsm paper, using oil-based inks.
The linocut comes with a mount, backing board and cellophane wrap so it is ready for a 40cm by 50cm frame.
Please note international orders will be posted without a mount and rolled in a tube with acid-free tissue.
The Royal Pavilion in Brighton is a wonderful architectural confection and has been admired for several hundred years. It was built from 1787 as a seaside retreat for George, Prince of Wales, who became the Prince Regent in 1811.
From 1815, the Prince employed the services of John Nash, and it is from this time that Prince George's seaside villa was transformed into the incredible oriental palace that we see today.
The interior is equally amazing and imaginative.
The linoprint shows a view of the pavilion from the lily pond in its grounds.
